United Group BV is the largest privately-owned telecommunications and media company in the Western Balkans, operating in Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro and North Macedonia. It is currently expecting approval of its intended acquisition of Vivacom, Bulgaria’s leading telecommunications operator, in the course of 2020. The majority owner of United Group is London-based private equity group BC Partners.
Since September 2018, Steve oversees legal matters, as well as contacts with policymakers and regulators, across the territories of United Group. He also helps coordinate corporate communications and steps in as spokesperson to the media for the overall United Group company.
Before joining United Group, Steve Leroy held a number of senior leadership roles in legal, public affairs, communications, sustainability, crisis & issues management and business project management at Discovery, the leading real-life media entertainment company; at Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world’s largest beer brewer; and at soft drinks icon The Coca-Cola Company. Before his business career, Steve was a lawyer in Brussels, and was chief of staff to the Governor of the province of Antwerp in Belgium.
Steve Leroy holds a Master’s degree in Law from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium; a Master’s degree in Commercial & Consular Sciences from Hautes Etudes Commerciales St. Louis (Groupe ICHEC), in Brussels, Belgium; a full-time Master of Business Administration (MBA) from INSEAD, in Fontainebleau, France; and the specialised Master’s degree in EU Competition Law & Economics from the Brussels School of Competition, Belgium.
